Staffinity is currently seeking a Standalone Controller for a well-established, mid-sized insulation company. This is a critical, permanent role for a financial leader who isn't afraid to "roll up their sleeves." You will initially manage the full cycle of accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll, with the long-term goal of stabilizing the department and potentially hiring an assistant as the company continues to scale.
Compensation: $90,000 - $130,000 per year, commensurate with experience and professional designation (CPA preferred). Candidates with extensive Jonas Software experience will be considered at the top end of the range.
Responsibilities:
Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage all day-to-day financial operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger maintenance.
Payroll & Benefits: Execute weekly/bi-weekly payroll and manage employee benefit programs with meticulous accuracy.
Project Costing: Oversee work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and revenue recognition specific to the construction/insulation industry.
Software Management: Act as the primary lead for Jonas Construction Software, ensuring data integrity and optimizing system use for reporting.
Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly financial statements, provincial/federal tax filings, and year-end audit packages for ownership.
Process Improvement: Review and refine internal controls to ensure a seamless transition from daily tasks to high-level financial strategy.
Qualifications:
Industry Experience: A minimum of 3â5 years of accounting experience specifically within the Construction industry is essential.
Technical Proficiency: Strong, hands-on experience with Jonas Software is a significant asset.
Standalone Capability: You must be comfortable and proficient in performing all "day-to-day" tasks (bookkeeping, payroll, etc.) independently.
Education: A Post-secondary degree in Accounting or Finance; a CPA designation is highly preferred and will be reflected in the salary offer.
Soft Skills: A self-starter with aggressive accountability, exceptional detail orientation, and the ability to work effectively without immediate support staff.
