    TITLE: Staff Accountant

    REPORTS TOBusiness Manager 

    JOB GOAL: To assist in the administration of the fiscal affairs of the District efficiently, expeditiously and to the ultimate benefit of each individual student enrolled. 

    Qualifications 

    •  B.S. or B.A. in accounting, finance, or business administration. 

    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in accounting in a public school district environment. ? Knowledgeable GAAP and GASB statements. 

    •  Excellent skills in accounting software and spreadsheets. 

    • Familiarity with ProSoft financial and real estate software is a plus. 

    • Strong oral and written communication skills. 

    Duties and Responsibilities 

    •  Prepares the monthly financial reports for all funds, journal entries and budgetary transfers and review accounts for accuracy. 

    •  Maintains and tracks the financial aspects of the District's local, federal and state grants.

    • Analyzes specific accounting operations for the purpose of ensuring efficiency and adherence to established internal policies and procedures. 

    •  Recommends accounting procedures for the purpose of maintaining accurate records and internal controls throughout the district and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

    •  Assists Business Manager with the implementation of GASB pronouncements. 

    •  Maintains cash flow schedule for cash requirements and investment decisions. 

    • Provides financial reporting on the various projects as needed. 

    •  Maintains the fixed asset system as required for financial reporting. 

    •  Provides oversight of the Athletic and Student Activity accounts. 

    • Maintains and keeps current District Financial Policies. 

    •  Recommends and monitors procedures in regards to real estate taxes and acts as liaison for the twelve (12) tax collectors. 

    •  Reviews purchasing procedures to ensure that the District is complying with state regulations. 

    •  Reviews the District's internal financial procedures to determine risk and develop written procedures including appropriate internal controls to minimize financial risk to the District. 

    •  Reviews all contracts to ensure compliance with its terms. 

    •  Works with external auditors providing necessary documentation. 

    •  Performs other functions as assigned by the Business Manager 

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Salary, work schedule, evaluation and other conditions of employment are in accordance with current Act 93 agreement.
