Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant:

The Staff Accountant is a member of the Grand America Hotels and Resorts Accounting team that oversees the accounting and financial operations for multiple hotels. This position will focus on assisting the Cluster Director of Finance and Assistant Director of Finance in accurate and timely financial reporting, process improvement, and collaborative team building in the accounting department, as well as inter-departmentally.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain detailed and accurate reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts for Grand and Little America Salt Lake City hotels.

Reconcile intercompany worksheets to general ledger accounts.

Assist with month end and year end close.

Interact with external and internal auditors to respond to information requests

Provide direct assistance and support in sales and use tax filings

Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and assist in implementing best practices to enhance efficiency

Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity

Perform daily cash and credit card transaction reconciliations.

Provide support for posting and applying payments and maintaining key accounts within property systems.

Ad-hoc responsibilities assigned by management

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting; 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred with hotel accounting experience required.

Comprehensive understanding of GAAP, USALI and audit principles

Solid Understanding of office etiquette, procedures and equipment

Strong oral and written communication skills

Good analytical and critical thinking skills

Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with other staff and senior management

Detail oriented and adaptable with a commitment to accuracy and excellence

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Knowledge of Sun Systems, Coupa, UKG is a plus
