You'll play an important role in maintaining the accuracy of financial records, supporting monthly close activities, and helping ensure the company's financial operations run smoothly.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Staff Accountant, you'll be involved in both daily accounting activities and larger month-end responsibilities, including:
- Recording journal entries for items such as cash transactions, accruals, and account reclassifications.
- Reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger balances to ensure financial accuracy.
- Processing accounts payable by coding invoices, preparing payment runs, and maintaining vendor records.
- Assisting with accounts receivable activities, including applying customer payments and posting cash receipts.
- Reviewing employee expense reports for accuracy and policy compliance.
- Maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and supporting accurate financial reporting.
Month-End & Financial Reporting
You'll be an active contributor during the monthly close process by:
- Preparing and posting month-end journal entries.
- Reconciling balance sheet accounts, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets.
- Updating supporting schedules and maintaining organized documentation.
- Assisting with financial reporting and researching account variances.
- Ensuring accounting records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Additional responsibilities include:
- Maintaining well-organized accounting documentation and supporting internal controls.
- Assisting with sales tax or other indirect tax filings.
- Supporting year-end 1099 reporting.
- Providing documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.
- Investigating accounting discrepancies and helping resolve issues.
- Participating in process improvements, system enhancements, budgeting support, financial analysis, and other special projects as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- At least two years of accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
- Experience performing account reconciliations and supporting financial close activities.
Technical Skills
Success in this role includes experience with:
- ERP accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or comparable software.
- Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables.
- Accounts payable or expense management platforms such as Concur or Bill.com (preferred but not required).
