Summary
Under the supervision of the Finance Director, the Staff Accountant is responsible for performing accounting functions essential to the operation of the organization in accordance with Human Options’ standard procedures and GAAP.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Process agency A/P and A/R weekly and monthly invoicing.
- Reconcile key income statement and balance sheet accounts, and draft journal entries; take actions to resolve discrepancies.
- Process credit card transactions through the accounting system ensuring appropriate backup and approvals.
- Investigate uncommon and or unusual invoices and requests.
- Lead audit response preparation and finance related projects, such as online time and labor tracking, paperless system implementation, and cost allocation projects.
- Assist in finance and agency process improvement planning and implementation.
- Coordinate budget development for both grants and the annual agency budgets.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in accounting or related field, or commensurate work experience.
- Four (4) years of accounting experience required; non-profit sector accounting experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, particularly for non-profits.
- Experience in Financial Edge preferred. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel and working knowledge of computer database program entry and report generation.
- Complete the 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate certification training post-hire.
