Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will support accounting operations within our construction projects, focusing on accurate financial reporting, compliance, and cost control. This role requires a detail-oriented professional experienced in construction accounting, including Work-in-Progress (WIP) analysis, monthly profit reconciliations, and comprehensive AR management.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting records and transactions.
• Analyze financial data and identify trends, variances, and discrepancies.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and procedures.
• Recommend and implement improvements to accounting systems and processes.
• Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy in cost allocations and project expense reporting.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of financial statements and account analysis.
• Conduct monthly profit reconciliations, including WIP analysis, to validate revenue and profit margins, ensuring reasonableness of reported figures.
• Ad Hoc cost analysis.
• Collaborate with project managers to monitor project budgets, evaluate job costing, and identify areas for cost improvement.
• Process Accounts Receivable (AR) for construction projects, tracking outstanding balances, and coordinating collections to ensure timely payments from clients.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• At least three years of experience in accounting or auditing.
• CPA certification or eligibility preferred.
• Proficient in accounting software and MS Office.
• Knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and tax laws.

Travel Requirements:

• Flexibility to travel on short notice for urgent business needs, to attend meetings, trainings, and events.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance during business trips.
• Compliance with company travel policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements: 

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to use a computer, phone, printer, scanner, and other office equipment.
• Visual acuity for detailed work and computer use
• Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds of files, documents, and materials.
