Temp Staff Accountant – Part-Time – San Rafael - $30–$35/hour
We are seeking a Temporary Staff Accountant to provide essential part time accounting and payroll support to cover a leave of absence. You will enjoy a flexible schedule while ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and timely payroll processing for this mission-driven nonprofit organization.
- Location: On-site in San Rafael
- Schedule: ~20 hours/week; flexible (3 full days or 4–5 shorter days)
- Start: ASAP
- Length: 3+ months
Staff Accountant Duties:
- Maintain and update accounting records and files.
- Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare journal entries and monitor monthly accrual-based entries.
- Assist with month-end close activities and budget vs. actual monitoring.
- Assist CFO with all payroll tasks.
- Record payroll activity in the general ledger.
- Ensure timely payroll processing and respond to staff inquiries.
Staff Accountant Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in accounting and payroll.
- Strong Excel skills
- Ability to work on-site
- Experience with ADP Workforce and Sage Intacct preferred (or similar systems).
- Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus
- High attention to detail, confidentiality, and ability to meet deadlines.
