Position Overview
Reporting to our Accounting Manager, we are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions
- Generate accurate accounting reports with proper support
- Prepare monthly account analysis to ensure accuracy in reporting
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- Suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
- Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
- Provide input into department's goal setting process
- Prepare financial statement workpapers for audits
- Ensure timely state, sales & use tax filings
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Liaise with colleagues, VP of Finance, and CFO to improve financial processes and procedures
- Coordinate and prepare for external, bank, and insurance audits
- Effectively supervise and motivate direct reports
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting & finance (MBA a plus)
- 4-6 years of experience in accounting
- Experience operating in a multi-organizational environment
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Awareness of business trends
- Hands-on experience with accounting software, ERP systems, QuickBooks, and T&E systems
- Advanced MS Excel skills including formulas, V-lookup, and pivot tables
- Accuracy and strong attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Superior organizational skills; detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and in a dynamic, high-energy, team-oriented environment
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft 365/Business Central (a plus)
- Industry knowledge a plus
