Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations, including preparing journal entries, maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end close processes. This role ensures accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies. He/she must possess the requisite skills necessary to ensure that Linwood’s standards for excellence are met or exceeded.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Processes accounts payable including online, ACH payments
· Ensures invoices are paid in a timely manner and that all documentation is verified
· Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
· Perform month-end and year-end close activities
· Reconcile various bank accounts as well as balance sheet accounts
· Assist with accruals and prepaid schedules
· Support fixed asset accounting and depreciation
· Analyze account variances and investigate discrepancies
· Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy
· Prepare financial reporting (monthly) and management reporting
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
· Maintain confidentiality of Linwood’s financial data
· Prepare agency annual budgets and special projects
· Monitor and tracking budgets for all services programs
· Maintain supporting documentation for audit purposes
· Support budgeting and variance analysis by program/department
· Support internal and external audits and preparation of supporting schedules including Form 990.
· Ensure adherence to internal accounting policies
· Assist with process improvement and automation initiatives
· Scanning, filing and document retention and other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
- Must possess a Bachelor Degree in Accounting/Business or four years of coursework in related subjects.
- Must have experience and/or demonstrate competence in all aspect of accounting matters.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required, including proficiency with advanced functions of Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with QuickBooks accounting software and Paycom payroll platform, or other comparable HRIS / Payroll System.
- Must also demonstrate analytical and organizational skills with superior attention to detail and an ability to set priorities.
