We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Inventory & Accounts Payable Accountant to support a growing e-commerce business. This role is critical to maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely vendor payments, and building strong inventory accounting processes that support business growth.

Summary
The Inventory & Accounts Payable Accountant will oversee the company's accounts payable function while managing inventory accounting and reconciliation processes. This role serves as a key link between day-to-day operations and the monthly financial close process, ensuring financial data is complete, accurate, and delivered on time.
Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice entry, coding, approval routing, and payment processing.
- Review and reconcile vendor statements on a regular basis.
- Ensure invoices are accurately coded to appropriate accounts and cost categories.
- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, vendor inquiries, and payment issues.
- Monitor AP aging and proactively address outstanding balances.
- Maintain accurate vendor records and payment terms.
- Implement and maintain invoice matching and approval processes.
- Support royalty payment management and payables on licensed bags
Inventory Accounting
- Reconcile inventory data between e-commerce and accounting systems on a monthly basis.
- Analyze inventory variances and investigate discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate inventory valuation records, including landed costs, freight, duties, and adjustments.
- Support inventory reserve calculations and inventory-related journal entries.
- Assist with physical inventory counts and year-end inventory procedures.
- Monitor inventory-related financial reporting and ensure accuracy of cost of goods sold (COGS).
Month-End Close & Financial Support
- Prepare reconciliations and schedules supporting the monthly close process.
- Complete bank reconciliations and inventory-related account reconciliations.
- Assist with accruals and other month-end accounting activities.
- Provide accurate, organized financial information to accounting leadership and external advisors.
- Identify process improvements and help establish scalable accounting procedures.
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of accounting experience, including accounts payable responsibilities.
- Experience with inventory accounting in a product-based business.
- Strong understanding of:
- Accounts Payable
- Inventory Reconciliation
- Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
- Inventory Adjustments
- Month-End Close Processes
- Proficiency with QuickBooks.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and reconciliation reporting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience in e-commerce, retail, apparel, or other inventory-driven industries.
- Experience reconciling inventory between operational and accounting systems.
- Familiarity with Shopify or similar e-commerce platforms.
- Knowledge of landed cost accounting and inventory valuation methodologies.
- Experience working with external accountants, auditors, or fractional finance teams.
