The Staff Accountant II is an experienced accounting professional responsible for supporting accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong accounting controls, and managing complex accounting activities across the organization. This role prepares and reviews journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analyses, and reporting schedules while ensuring financial information is complete, accurate, and recorded in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.

This role plays an important role in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and supports audit activities, compliance requirements, and accounting process improvements. This position takes ownership of assigned complex accounting areas, provides insight into accounting matters, and contributes to improvements in accounting processes, controls, and reporting practices. Provides accounting expertise, resolves complex accounting matters, and helps strengthen accounting practices across Fall Creek. The Staff Accountant II also serves as a resource for less experienced accounting team members by sharing knowledge, providing guidance, and supporting the development of other accounting employees and support staff.

Success in this role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage complex accounting assignments. The Staff Accountant II must be able to evaluate financial information, interpret accounting guidance, resolve accounting issues, and communicate recommendations clearly to financial and non-financial partners.

ORGANIZATIONAL FIT: 
This position is part of the Finance department and reports to the Accounting Manager and supports accounting activities across multiple business functions.  

The Staff Accountant II works closely with Finance, Operations, FP&A, and other business partners to support Fall Creek’s financial objectives while demonstrating expertise, integrity, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement. This role requires the ability to work effectively across functions, regions, and cultures in a global, matrixed environment.

JOB SETTING:
Office and hybrid work setting with office presence 3 days per week. This position is based in Eugene/Springfield, Oregon (United States).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Other duties as assigned)

REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  2. Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience.
  3. Demonstrated experience with general ledger accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, and internal controls.
  4. Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting practices.
  5. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other financial reporting tools.
  6. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  7. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.
  8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  9. Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
  10. Effective leadership, communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills paired with strong attention to detail.
  11. Must demonstrate professional and ethical business practices, adherence to Fall Creek’s values, and a commitment to personal and professional development.
