Staff Accountant II

POSITION SUMMARY: Staff Account II plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive financial and accounting assistance to the Controller and the accounting team, as well as offering general support to the entire organization. This position is essential in addressing inquiries, aiding the Development team with revenue tracking, and ensuring smooth financial operations across various functions. The specialist will engage in tasks related to general ledger entries, monthly reconciliations, internal monitoring, cash transfer requests, and account analysis. Additionally, this role involves managing financial, physical, and digital assets, including phones, computers, and investment accounts.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

• Collaborate with the Development team and other staff to ensure that all revenues, including pledges, contracts, and grants, as well as cash receipts, are accurately recorded in the accounting system on a monthly basis.

• Review supporting documentation for pledges, grants, contracts, and receipts.
• Provide support for revenue recognition, particularly for conditional grants or restricted contributions.
• Prepare monthly journal entries for various asset and revenue accounts.
• Prepare monthly reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts.
• Assist in reviewing general ledger accounts, correct journal entries as necessary and prepare and distribute various monthly financial statements and reports.

• Record monthly investment transactions and perform account analysis and rollforwards related to investments.
• Conduct an annual rollforward of all fixed asset activities to support audit requirements.
• Assist in preparing audit work papers for year-end fieldwork.
• Compile investment-related information for annual IRS Form 990 filings.
• Prepare and file annual property tax returns.
• Prepare and file monthly Business and Occupation (B&O) tax returns
• Collaborate with various departments to address accounting-related inquiries and provide education support.
• Assist in organizing and maintaining account filing systems.
• Execute accounting and administrative tasks related to assets, including but not limited to: Recordkeeping, tracking additions and disposals, managing depreciation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Minimum of three years of relevant accounting professional experience.

Knowledge and Skills

• Excellent organizational skills and basic accounting knowledge. Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
• Outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.
• Microsoft Office365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook). Including but not limited to; Salesforce, and MIP Fund Accounting Software.
• Utilize proactive problem-solving strategies with confidential information to enhance decision-making capability.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work autonomously and as part of a team.
• An established commitment to work collaboratively and harmoniously with CSF staff, colleagues and stakeholders.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This position requires Washington state residents if assigned in a Washington based location. If this position is assigned in a District of Columbia based location the resident must reside in the District of Columbia.
• Job may allow for hybrid work arrangements.
• Use collaborative software for communicating with others and attending virtual meetings.
• Travel may be required, including occasional evening and weekend events.
• Reliable transportation is required.
