Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant I to support billing, payment application, disbursement processing, and accounting operations for a leading global insurance organization.
This role is ideal for an early-career accounting professional who enjoys working with numbers, investigating discrepancies, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting critical accounting processes. The successful candidate will have strong Excel skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Billing & Payment Processing
- Process billing transactions, payment applications, and disbursements
- Research and resolve payment discrepancies and check-related issues
- Apply payments accurately and maintain account records
- Support billing and statement generation processes
- Ensure timely and accurate transaction processing
Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare and analyze accounting reports, statements, and reconciliations
- Assist with variance and trend analysis for key accounts
- Maintain client and insured records with accuracy and attention to detail
- Support reporting activities and financial data maintenance
Compliance & Controls
- Follow established accounting policies and procedures
- Assist with documentation and process improvement initiatives

- SOX procedures
- SSAE16 requirements
- US GAAP standards
- Internal control requirements
Administrative & Team Support
- Respond professionally to internal and external communications
- Prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
- Work across multiple systems and databases simultaneously
- Support team projects and operational initiatives as needed
Required Qualifications
Education
- Associate Degree required
Experience
- 1–3 years of accounting, finance, billing, accounts receivable, payment processing, or related experience
Technical Skills
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience working with financial data and spreadsheets
- Ability to perform data analysis and reporting activities
- Experience using multiple systems and databases simultaneously

Compensation
$24.00 per hour (W-2)
Work Details

- Employment Type: Contract (W-2)
- Contract Length: 6 Months
- Pay Rate: $24.00 per hour
- Schedule: Onsite daily during training
- After training: Approximately 6 onsite days per month
