Founded in 1972, Homeowners Rehab, a 501(c)3 organization, develops and preserves affordable, high-quality rental housing, with about 1,700 rental homes in our portfolio. Our community engagement programs focus on housing stability, economic resiliency, health, and youth development, all pathways to opportunity for our residents. HRI's Home Improvement Program supports homeowners of limited income to remain in their homes and build generational wealth. While Cambridge remains our primary focus, we have expanded to Somerville, Newton, Watertown, Worcester, and Lowell, where we have preserved about 200 units of existing affordable housing. HRI is a chartered member of the national NeighborWorks America network..

HRI's central purpose is to build and preserve homes that are affordable and accessible to all. We provide safe, sustainable housing to those who need it, regardless of age, race, income, identity, or disability. We build stable, strong communities through resident services programming and our Home Improvement Program for low and moderate income homeowners. We collaborate with allies in Cambridge and beyond to expand housing and economic opportunity.

The Salary Range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications. We offer a flexible work environment with a hybrid schedule, with three (3) days in HRI's Cambridge office and the remaining days remotely.

In this highly visible position, reporting directly to the Controller, you will have the opportunity to showcase and highlight your strengths as an experienced accountant, strategic thinker, and strong problem-solver. Your accounting expertise, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail will be key to your success in this role. You will work independently and also as part of a collaborative team.

About the Position:

The Staff Accountant, reporting to the Controller, will process accounting transactions and financial reporting for our three 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. This position involves a diverse range of accounting responsibilities encompassing accounts receivable, cash disbursements, cash management, banking, and month-end closing procedures. As a valued member of our dynamic and fast-paced team, you will play an essential role in enhancing our financial proficiency to a high level of efficiency.

HRI staff currently work a hybrid schedule with 3 days on site (in-office). Particular schedule will be coordinated upon hiring and flexibility is necessary.
