The Finance Department exists to provide accurate, transparent, and timely financial information that supports ministry while honoring biblical principles of stewardship.

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of Higher Dimension Church, ensuring financial transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, and reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and nonprofit accounting standards.

Working collaboratively with the Finance Senior Project Manager, outsourced Bookkeeper, and Fractional CFO, this role serves as the primary in-house accounting professional responsible for maintaining financial records, supporting payroll and accounts payable, preparing reconciliations, monitoring budgets, and ensuring compliance with established financial policies and internal controls.

This position plays a critical role in safeguarding church resources while providing timely financial information that enables ministry leaders to make informed operational decisions. The Staff Accountant supports the church's commitment to financial integrity by ensuring all transactions are processed accurately, timely, and in accordance with established policies and biblical stewardship principles.

TECHNOLOGY

Proficiency with:

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
  • Experience with accounting software such as Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • CPA candidate or nonprofit accounting experience is a plus but not required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High ethical standards with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • A servant's heart and commitment to supporting ministry.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

EXPERIENCE

PRIMARY OFFICE HOURS

Additional hours may be required during month-end close, year-end reporting, audits, and major church events.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but works closely with ministry leaders, vendors, the outsourced Bookkeeper, Finance Senior Project Manager, and Fractional CFO.
