SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the Bank's accounting and financial reporting functions through the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analysis, management reports, and regulatory reporting. The position assists in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and supporting the overall financial operations of the Bank.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Prepares and posts journal entries to the general ledger.
- Maintains and reconciles assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Performs month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing procedures.
- Assists with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Assists with regulatory and tax reporting requirements.
- Performs financial analysis and investigates account variances.
- Prepares schedules and supporting documentation for audits and examinations.
- Maintains accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Assists with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Recommends process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
- Assists with implementation and testing of accounting systems and procedures.
- Provides support for special projects and management requests.
- Serves as a resource for accounting-related inquiries from Bank personnel.
- Assists with accounts payable, reconciliations, and other accounting functions as assigned.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of applicable accounting standards, banking regulations, and Bank policies.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Three or more years of accounting experience preferred.
- Banking or financial institution accounting experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Advanced Excel proficiency.
- Strong analytical and financial problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
