Staff Accountant

Job Summary

The Staff Accountant assists the Senior Staff Accountant in maintaining the integrity of the General Ledger and Project Ledger. This position performs core accounting functions including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and reconciliations in support of government contracting operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform full Accounts Receivable (AR) functions including billing, cash application, aging analysis, and collections support.
• Perform full Accounts Payable (AP) functions including invoice review, coding, processing, and vendor reconciliations.
• Process payroll activities ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
• Prepare, post, and maintain general ledger journal entries.
• Perform journal and balance sheet account reconciliations and research variances.
• Enter and post customer invoices into Accounting System.
• Maintain customer billing documentation and process credit adjustments.
• Research general ledger and project ledger transaction details.
• Assist with internal and external audits.
• Recommend improvements to accounting processes and controls.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Strong understanding of GAAP and FAR compliance.
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, payroll, AP, and AR.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
• Five (5) or more years of related accounting experience required.
• Government Contracting Accounting experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Deltek Costpoint and/or Unanet.
• Experience working in a government contracting environment.
• OSHA 10 certification.
