Staff Accountant

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant will support the Financial Reporting Manager in conducting account reconciliations, preparing financial reports, and ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger for all properties within the portfolio.

Job Responsibilities:

• Calculate monthly management fees and prepare corporate allocation journal entries
• Assist in the monthly and quarterly distribution process, including calculating property-level distributions and submitting payment to investors
• Assist in the accounting for acquisitions and dispositions of properties (booking initial accounting entries, setup recurring entries, etc.)
• Prepare bank reconciliations for manager and investment company entities
• Assist in compiling and preparing audit and tax requests/inquiries
• Draft and review annual property tax and audit journal entries proposed by tax and audit preparers
• Perform corporate-level general ledger account analyses and reconciliations
• Prepare investor capital account statements and rollfowards for the Company’s various joint venture partnerships
• Assist with quarterly and annual financial reporting including preparing ad hoc reports
• Assist in implementing enhancements and new programs to the Company’s accounting system

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field is preferred
• 1-3 years of experience in accounting or related field
• Good understanding of GAAP accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
• Excellent time management, organizational and planning skills with attention to detail
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office, specifically in Excel
• Ability to adapt to changing organizational needs
• Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously
• RealPage experience is a plus
