Staff Accountant / Full Charge Bookkeeper

Position Description

We're hiring a Staff Accountant to own the day-to-day accounting for our business. This is a hands-on role for someone who's grown beyond pure bookkeeping and can confidently close the books, run payroll, and produce financial reports leadership can use to make decisions. Not in need of a CPA but we are looking for someone accurate, organized, and comfortable working independently. Lobo Logistics is a small oil field focused trucking and logistics company with a concise scope of work.

You'll partner closely with ownership and operation management, and your work will directly inform how we plan, execute, and grow.

This position will be primarily remote/work from home with initial in person on boarding and regular scheduled KPI meetings.

What you'll do

• Own full-cycle bookkeeping: AP, AR, bank and credit card reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close
• Run payroll on schedule, deductions, garnishments, and payroll tax filings
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
• Analyze P&L results — flag variances, trends, and opportunities; build simple reports for management review
• Maintain clean, audit-ready records and support our outside CPA at year-end / tax time
• Track fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and accruals
• Help with light budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and ad-hoc financial analysis
• Look for ways to improve our accounting processes and controls

What we're looking for

Required

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience
• QuickBooks proficiency (Online and/or Desktop) — this is non-negotiable
• Hands-on experience running payroll in a modern payroll system (ADP)
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic formulas)
• Solid grasp of GAAP fundamentals and month-end close mechanics
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational habits
• Ability to work independently, prioritize, and meet deadlines without hand-holding
• Clear written and verbal communication

Nice to have

• Experience in logistics, trucking, or transportation — familiarity with fuel, IFTA, driver settlements, per diems, owner-operator vs. company driver pay
• Certifications such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB), QuickBooks ProAdvisor, or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
• Experience working alongside an external CPA at tax time
