The Staff Accountant will support the accounting and finance functions of the organization through month-end close activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations, contract administration, and analysis of financial data. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with approximately 2 years of experience who is looking to grow within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
Essential Job Functions
- Process accounts payable transactions, including invoice coding, approval coordination, invoice entry, and payment processing.
- Assist with month-end close procedures, including preparation of journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Monitor and reconcile daily cash activity between bank accounts and accounting systems.
- Prepare recurring daily, weekly, and monthly operational and financial reports.
- Support revenue recognition and contract administration processes.
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial information within accounting systems.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments to support business operations and financial reporting needs.
- Maintain organized accounting documentation and records in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Train and mentor accounting staff and provide work direction.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis functions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and initiative.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience is preferred.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, accounts payable, journal entries, and financial reporting preferred.
- Experience working within transportation, logistics, or service-based industries is a plus.
