YOUR NEW ROLE
Indirect Tax Compliance
- Prepare and assist with sales and use tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
- Process and track tax payments across jurisdictions.
- Reconcile sales tax accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain documentation to support filings and audits.
Account Reconciliations & Financial Controls
- Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations (cash, accruals, tax accounts, etc.).
- Investigate variances and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.
- Support period-end close processes and ensure adherence to deadlines.
- Assist in maintaining strong internal controls and audit readiness.
Property & Franchise Tax Filings
- Coordinate and prepare property tax and franchise tax filings.
- Track filing deadlines and ensure compliance across jurisdictions.
- Work with external advisors, where applicable, to support filings and documentation.
Corporate Tax Support
- Assist in the preparation of support schedules and documentation for corporate income tax returns (prepared by third-party advisors).
- Liaise with external tax providers to ensure timely submission of required data.
- Maintain supporting workpapers and audit trails.
Business Licenses & Regulatory Compliance
- Manage and track business license renewals across jurisdictions.
- Ensure timely submission of renewals and associated payments.
- Maintain a centralized tracker of license requirements and deadlines.
Process Improvement & Reporting
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and automate processes.
- Support documentation of accounting procedures and process flows.
- Assist in preparing ad hoc financial reports and analysis for management.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience (public accounting or corporate environment preferred).
- Exposure to multi-state or cross-border environments (US/Canada) is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP preferred).
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, D365, etc.) preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic formulas).
- Familiarity with tax compliance tools or software is a plus.
