The Role

We are currently seeking a talented Staff Accountant to join our team. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in the day-to-day functions of the Accounting Department and will interact closely with those in the department. The individual in this role must be organized, a strong communicator, able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment, and able to manage deadlines with great attention to detail. This position will interact and work closely with others in the Accounting Department and will report directly to the Accounting Manager in Lenexa, Kansas. This is a hybrid role, with remote work on Mondays and Fridays and in-office collaboration Tuesday through Thursday.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:

• Prepare journal entries and recording of transactions accurately for assigned areas
• Maintain the integrity of financial accounting controls
• Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations
• Perform needed analysis to ensure month-end balances are reported correctly
• Complete assigned month-end close tasks on schedule.
• Perform year-end close activities timely and in accordance with the close calendar
• Reconcile assigned accounts and resolve outstanding items following established procedures.
• Assist in the preparation of schedules and support requested by the auditors
• Ensure that accounting procedures are properly documented and updated
• Complete accounting projects and other assignments as directed by the Accounting Manager.
• Prepare ad hoc reports and financial analysis as requested.
• Support other members of the Accounting team with assigned tasks.
• Follow established accounting procedures and maintain current documentation.

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For: 

•  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
• Two or more years of accounting experience
• Experience with preparing journal entries and performing month-end close tasks is preferred
• Experience with foreign currencies is a plus
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and other related applications
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• The ability to thrive in a challenging environment, where multi-tasking is a must
• Exceptional attention to detail and be process-oriented
• The ability to adapt to change and quickly master new concepts
