What makes this role different This is not a transactional accounting seat. You will own CAPEX tracking, fixed asset lifecycles, GR/IR resolution, and cost center spend analysis — all in SAP ECC — while actively driving process automation and reporting improvements that Finance leadership will see every month. |
About the Role
We are looking for a Staff Accountant who brings both technical precision and a continuous improvement mindset. You will be embedded in core accounting operations — preparing journal entries, managing fixed assets, and executing depreciation runs — while also serving as a key contributor to cost center spend analysis and CAPEX reporting for Operations and Engineering partners.
SAP ECC is central to everything you will do here and your ability to navigate SAP confidently will be critical from day one. If you also have a passion for making Finance workflows faster and smarter through automation, this role will give you the platform to do it.
What You'll Do
Journal Entries & General Ledger
- Prepare and post all monthly journal entry types in SAP ECC — accruals, reversals, reclassifications, and manual depreciation adjustments
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve variances before close deadlines
- Coordinate sub-ledger to GL tie-outs with AP, AR, and Payroll
- Support year-end close, rollforward schedules, and audit workpaper preparation
CAPEX & Investment Management
- Own CAPEX accounting in SAP ECC IM/PS — create and monitor Investment Orders and WBS elements, track actuals vs. budget
- Manage AuC balances and execute timely asset capitalization and settlement
- Prepare monthly CAPEX variance report with written commentary for management; partner with Engineering and Operations on project costs
- Support annual capital planning by providing historical spend data and asset rollforward schedules
Fixed Assets & Depreciation
- Maintain the fixed asset register in SAP ECC AA — additions, transfers, retirements, and adjustments through full asset lifecycle
- Execute monthly depreciation runs (AFAB) and reconcile fixed asset sub-ledger to GL
- Prepare and maintain fixed asset rollforward; analyze depreciation variances by asset class and cost center
GR/IR Reconciliation
- Perform monthly GR/IR account analysis, clear matched items, investigate aged open items, and prepare aging schedules
- Post month-end GR/IR accruals and coordinate with Procurement and AP to resolve invoice-to-PO discrepancies
- Track GR/IR clearing trends and escalate systemic issues with root-cause analysis
Cost Center & Primary Cost Spend Analysis
- Prepare monthly cost center spend reports — actuals vs. budget with written variance commentary for department managers and leadership
- Identify overspend trends, timing variances, and mispostings; coordinate reclassifications and accrual corrections with cost center owners
Process Improvement & Automation
- Identify manual and repetitive accounting steps; design and implement solutions using Power Query, Excel macros, SAP report variants, or RPA tools
- Contribute to Power BI dashboard development for CAPEX tracking, depreciation reporting, and cost center spend visualization
