Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for providing professional accounting support to East-West Ministries. The Staff Accountant is responsible for a variety of accounting processes. These duties include monthly journal entries, bank reconciliations, financial reporting and analysis, analyzing and inputting account reconciliations from the field as well as other sources, participation as needed in field reviews and financial audits, basic accounting services for back-office support, and any other accounting duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager. The Staff Accountant will provide backup support for assigned functions during the absence of the Accounting Manager or other members of the Accounting team. This position is responsible for playing their part to achieve the bigger mission of East-West and for ensuring that all accounting activities are clearly aligned with East-West Vision, Mission, Values, Statement of Faith, and Biblical principles.
As an ambassador of faith in Christ and rooted in Biblical principles, the Staff Accountant will actively minister to EW leadership, staff, partners and the community in a manner that exhibits Christ-character through personal and corporate spiritual disciplines.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- General Ledger Maintenance
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for each of our bank and investment accounts and prepare related journal entries.
- Prepare various journal entries and fund transfers on a weekly basis
- Reconcile various General Ledger accounts as part of the month-end close process
- Reporting and Analysis
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accounting and contribution systems reconcile
- Review and approve corporate credit card reconciliation reports within expense reporting software
- Assist in the preparation of various monthly and annual reporting and analysis including
- Review of monthly project reports for compliance with budget
- Preparation of financial data
- Information and analysis needed for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, as well as annual audits, Form 990, and other external reporting
- Cash Management
- Tracking and preparing wire requests on a weekly basis
- Maintenance of bank accounts and balances
- Prepare related journal entry
- Other/Administrative
- Responsible for special projects assigned by Accounting Manager and/or Director of Financial Services and Controller
- Respond to emails and questions from East-West staff members
- Attend various staff/operations meetings
- Lead, attend, and/or contribute to East-West sponsored spiritual formation activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor�s Degree in Accounting, highly desired
- 1-2 years minimum experience working in Accounting, preferred
- Experience with Sage Intacct, SAP Concur, and Salesforce, highly desired
- Strong initiative, self-motivation, and ability to complete tasks on time
- Ability to listen well to service-related problems and offer help and solutions
