Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for completing daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks, with a primary focus on accounts payable and support for broader accounting operations. This role requires collaboration with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure accurate financial processing and reporting.
This position is based in Phoenix Arizona; Denver Colorado; or Grand Junction, Colorado and requires local residency in one of these base locations. Our strategic flexibility allows for local work from home opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Manage all aspects of the accounts payable process, including high-volume invoice and payment processing via check and ACH.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor records within the accounting system.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Provide backup support for accounts receivable, including invoicing and payment posting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and applicable tax laws.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Document and update accounting procedures and internal policies.
- Collaborate with finance team members and cross-functional staff to support the organization’s financial health.
- Assist with audits and provide required documentation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to explain financial concepts in clear, non-technical terms.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on process improvement and efficiency.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong sense of accountability, ownership, and follow-through.
- Experience in handling internal and external audits.

- Must occasionally be available for after-hours work, outside of normally scheduled hours.
Education/Experience
- Minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience required (non-profit is a plus).
- Bachelor’s Degree 3362in Accounting or another related field.
- Experience working in Microsoft Dynamics preferred.

The position may require the ability to periodically drive to and from clients, conferences and/or events; and/or limited travel.
