Description
ttg Talent Solutions is seeking a Staff Accountant for a company in the mechanical contracting and construction services industry. This role supports the accounting operations of the Mechanical Service Department, including billing, reconciliations, job costing, payroll support, vendor payments, and month-end reporting.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working closely with accounting, project management, vendors, and internal operations teams to ensure accurate financial records and timely reporting.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage daily accounting activities related to service and construction operations.
- Prepare customer invoices, apply payments, monitor aging reports, and follow up on past-due balances.
- Review, code, and enter vendor invoices, credit card receipts, and payment records.
- Reconcile customer accounts, vendor statements, credit card accounts, and general ledger activity.
- Support job costing, progress billing, cost-to-billing reconciliations, and change order tracking.
- Coordinate with project managers to review project costs, billing status, documentation, and profitability.
- Maintain vendor, subcontractor, and compliance documentation, including W-9s, lien releases, sworn statements, and related records.
- Review weekly timesheets, employee reimbursements, and support payroll-related reporting when needed.
- Assist with month-end close, financial reports, fixed asset tracking, and audit documentation.
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting files, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Previous accounting experience, preferably within construction, mechanical contracting, service operations, or a related industry.
- Experience with accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations, billing, and month-end support.
- Knowledge of job costing, progress billing, subcontractor documentation, or construction accounting is preferred.
- Ability to review invoices, identify discrepancies, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
