Staff Accountant

Manpower is now recruiting for a full-time Staff Accountant position in Jonesboro, LA!

This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, $18.00-$22.00/hour DOE.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing payroll processing, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and the administration of financial statements of small business or governmental clients. The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

Essential Functions:

1. Payroll Processing

• Accurately process payroll for client’s employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

• Prepare and file payroll tax returns and related reports.

• Maintain payroll records and respond to client payroll inquiries.

1. Accounts Payable

• Review, code, and process vendor invoices and employee expense reports.

• Prepare and process payments in a timely manner.

1. Bank Reconciliations

• Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all client accounts.

• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and general ledger balances.

1. Financial Statement Administration

• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, or annual financial statements.

• Prepare supporting schedules and workpapers as needed.

• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.

1. Other Duties

• Assist with audits and provide documentation as requested.

• Maintain organized and up-to-date accounting files and records.

• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with accounting software (specify if applicable).

• Prior experience in a public accounting or similar environment.
