Staff Accountant

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and contribute to the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This role will be responsible for general ledger activities, reconciliations, and assisting with the month-end close process, as well as supporting audits, fixed asset accounting, and cash management functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• Complete general ledger account reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation
• Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes
• Support internal and external audit requests, including preparing schedules and documentation
• Maintain and track fixed assets, including additions, disposals, and depreciation
• Assist with cash management activities, including monitoring balances and transactions
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 2–4+ years of general ledger accounting experience (or comparable experience)
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes
• Proficiency in accounting systems/ERP and Microsoft Excel
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
