Geo-Technology Associates (GTA) is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Accounting and Finance team. This role is designed for a highly motivated accounting professional who wants more than traditional transactional accounting role. You will support core accounting functions while also being trained across payroll, project financials, and other operational accounting activities. This position offers the opportunity, training, and support to take ownership of key accounting and operational processes as responsibilities grow over time
What You'll Do
- Perform account reconciliations, financial analysis, and related research to support accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare journal entries and support month-end close activities, including account analysis and supporting schedules.
- Support payroll and related accounting processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentation.
- Assist with project financial reviews and revenue recognition activities to support accurate financial reporting.
- Participate in system and process improvement initiatives focused on increasing efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
- Assist with compliance, audits, and documentation efforts, including gathering support and responding to requests.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and enhance financial and operational reporting.

Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2+ years of accounting experience preferred
- Understanding of financial statements, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliations
- Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Power BI experience a plus
- Experience with ERP systems required; exposure to payroll, CRM, or HRIS platforms is a plus.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new responsibilities
- Demonstrated ownership mentality and willingness to take initiative
