SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization’s financial operations through general accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliation, and payroll administration. This position ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial and payroll data while maintaining compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and applicable federal and state regulations. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical skills, attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required. Minimum of five (5) of progressively responsible accounting and payroll experience required. Experience with nonprofit accounting, Financial Edge (Blackbaud), and Paycom preferred.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Proficiency in various types of computer hardware and software; spreadsheets, word processing, databases, and flow-charting. Strong organizational and written and verbal communication skills.  Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and IRS non-profit reporting requirements (Forms 990, 1099, among others).
