Job Description Summary:
The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the accuracy and integrity of Cambridge Associates’ financial operations. Reporting to the Accounting Manager under Supervision of the Senior Accountant, this position is responsible for essential transactional accounting and close activities related to prepaids, cash, and fixed assets, while providing a strong foundation for the development of technical accounting knowledge and broader financial operations expertise.This role ensures financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely, reconciliations are completed thoroughly, and supporting schedules are maintained in accordance with US GAAP, established policies, and internal controls. The Staff Accountant collaborates closely with the broader Accounting team to support close processes, audit requests, financial reporting, and ongoing process improvement efforts.
Job Description:
Accounting Operations
- Prepare and post journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and maintain supporting schedules for assigned accounts in accordance with US GAAP and established accounting policies.
- Maintain prepaid expense schedules and ensure related amortization is recorded accurately and in the appropriate reporting periods.
- Reconcile cash accounts and investigate, resolve, and document reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Support fixed-asset accounting under the supervision of the Senior Accountant, including asset setup, capitalization, depreciation, transfers, and disposals.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes by completing assigned tasks accurately and within established deadlines.
- Prepare audit support schedules and supporting documentation for external audit requests and other reporting needs.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Support the preparation of internal financial reports and supporting schedules as directed.
- Conduct accounting research and prepare ad-hoc analyses to support business decision-making.
- Assist in identifying and communicating variances or discrepancies in financial data to the Senior Accountant.
- Respond to requests for accounting documentation from internal and external stakeholders
Process Transformation and Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in assigned processes.
- Partner with team members and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and gather information.
- Support the adoption of process improvements, system enhancements, and automation initiatives as directed.
- Communicate clearly and proactively regarding task status, questions, and issues requiring escalation.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 0–2 years of accounting experience; internship or co-op experience will be considered.
- Working knowledge of US GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and learn quickly in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP systems a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

86800In addition to the listed salary range, this position is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus and a comprehensive, competitive benefits package.
