DEPARTMENT: Accounting JOB TITLE: Staff Accountant REPORTS TO: Director of Finance

JOB PURPOSE: The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. Responsible for maintaining accurate and precise accounting.

AUTHORITY: All employees have the authority to stop operations/production for the following three reasons:

1) a quality defect, 2) an unsafe act, or 3) a health hazard.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares and analyzes financial statements

• Prepares balance sheets and reconciliation

• Conducts financial forecasting and budgeting activities

• Performs month-end and year-end close processes

• Ensures accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and regulations

• Performs accounts receivable functions

• Reconciles general ledger accounts

• Prepares journal entries and maintains accurate records of financial transactions

• Assists with preparation of tax returns and audits

• Provides financial analysis and recommendations to management for decision-making purposes

• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and systems

• Research and solve payment discrepancies

• Track and submit 401K withholdings

• Coordinate month end physical inventory, prepare worksheets and distribute to appropriate individuals and summarize results.

• Performs payroll processing functions

• Effectively perform any other duties as assigned or deemed necessary and appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience, Competencies and Education

An experienced individual with appropriate industry experience (3+ years in a manufacturing environment preferred.) An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image. A strategic visionary with attentional to detail, sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus. A well organized and self-directed individual team player. Possesses basic understanding of financial analysis and accounting policies, procedures, programs, and processes. Basic understanding of GAAP. An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills. A good educator who is trustworthy and willing to share information and serve as a mentor. A decisive individual who possesses a "big picture" perspective and is well versed in systems and possesses good computer skills. High School Diploma or GED (BS Preferred), 10th Grade Math Level, and two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to clearly convey thoughts and ideas to all levels of the organization.
