Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Staff Accountant to join our accounting and finance team at our steel manufacturing facility. This temporary accountant role provides hands-on exposure to core accounting functions within a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is ideal for an accountant, staff accountant, accounts payable specialist, bookkeeper, or finance professional looking to expand their experience in industrial finance and accounting operations.
The Staff Accountant will support daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and payroll and finance-related reporting under the supervision of the Plant Controller. This accounting position provides valuable experience in manufacturing finance, month-end close, and financial reporting processes.
In addition to transactional responsibilities, the Staff Accountant will assist in developing and documenting accounting procedures, workflows, and finance processes to support internal operations and knowledge transfer. This includes assisting with onboarding and training materials for the counterpart Staff Accountant in Colombia, helping ensure consistency across global accounting and finance teams.

Responsibilities:
General Accounting
Assist with recording and posting daily accounting transactions to the general ledger.
Support the preparation of journal entries under the supervision of the Plant Controller.
Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting financial documentation.
Assist with month-end and year-end accounting close, including reconciliations and accrual tracking.
Ensure transactions are properly coded by department, project, and cost center in the accounting system.
Accounts Payable
Process and manage accounts payable invoices while ensuring accurate billing details.
Match vendor invoices to purchase orders and ensure proper coding to general ledger accounting accounts.
Monitor and reconcile accounts payable aging reports.
Process vendor payments and maintain supporting remittance documentation.
Collaborate with purchasing and procurement teams to ensure accurate invoice processing.
Accounts Receivable
Generate sales orders and prepare customer invoices according to project timelines.
Issue external customer and intercompany invoices in accordance with contract terms and pricing structures.
Maintain customer billing schedules including milestone billing and recurring invoicing.
Receive and post customer payments within the accounting system.
Monitor and reconcile accounts receivable aging reports.
Maintain organized documentation for accounting and finance records related to customer projects.
Banking & Cash Flow Support
Assist with preparation and organization of bank reconciliations.
Maintain schedules supporting cash receipts, disbursements, and overall finance cash flow tracking.
Compliance & Financial Reporting
Provide documentation supporting sales and use tax filings and other regulatory requirements.
Assist in preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor requests related to accounting and finance records.
Ensure adherence to internal control procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Administrative & Accounting Department Support
Collaborate with the Senior Staff Accountant and Plant Controller on various accounting and finance projects.
Maintain electronic and physical accounting documentation and financial records.
Support process improvement initiatives within the accounting department.
Monitor and maintain the accounting communication desk system.
Additional Responsibilities:
Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for accounting workflows and financial processes.
Assist in training and onboarding new hires including the counterpart Staff Accountant in Colombia.
Collaborate with purchasing and procurement teams on cash flow planning and finance alignment.
Support budgeting alignment and purchase requisition approval processes.
Assist with payroll-related documentation or finance reporting support when required.
Follow all company policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
Perform other duties as assigned within the accounting and finance department.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelorâs degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
3â5 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, payroll, or finance operations.
Experience as a Staff Accountant, Accountant, Bookkeeper, or Accounts Payable Specialist preferred.
Manufacturing or industrial accounting experience is a plus but not required.
CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred.
Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and core accounting functions.
Strong proficiency in Excel and accounting software or ERP systems.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced accounting and finance environment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, purchasing, and finance leadership.
Ability to communicate in basic English and Spanish to coordinate with U.S. and international teams.
Work Schedule:
You will be expected to be available and working during our companyâs full-time business hours from 8:00 a.m. â 5:00 p.m. (CST).
