About the Role:
The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the company’s financial operations by maintaining accurate records, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end close and financial reporting. This position works closely with the operations team to provide accurate reporting and identify areas for financial improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain financial records, including journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Support accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow activities.
- Monitor daily timekeeping and ensure proper job cost data.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with the finance team.
- Participate in audits and provide necessary documentation and support.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to system enhancements.
Qualifications:
- 2–4+ years of experience in accounting or finance.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management abilities.
- Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- High level of integrity and commitment to confidentiality.
- Experience with job costs accounting is a preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional travel to field sites, job locations, or company divisions as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds if necessary.
Work Environment:
- Office-based role with occasional field or site visits.
- Standard business hours with occasional extended hours during peak periods
