We are recruiting multiple Staff Accountants on behalf of a respected boutique CPA public accounting firm based in Milton. Location: Milton, Ontario (In Person Only)
Salary: $90,000â$100,000 (Staff Accountant)
Employment Type: Full-Time | Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM â 5:00 PM
During tax season: During March and April, 1/2 days of Saturdays. (hours are banked)
About the Role:
As a Staff Accountant â Audit, you will be responsible for performing accounting/tax responsibilities with a focus on executing audit, review, and compilation engagements. You will play a key role in client communication, tax filings, and financial analysis. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is ready to take the next step in their public accounting career.Responsibilities
Plan, execute, and complete audit, review, and compilation engagements. Prepare adjusting journal entries, year-end entries, reporting, corporate tax returns (T2s), and other CRA filings. Serve as the primary contact between clients, client staff, and firm personnel. Analyze and review personal (T1s) and corporate (T2s) tax returns for accuracy and completeness. Prepare and complete personal tax returns for clients across Canada.
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting or business with an accounting focus.
- CPA designation (or close to completion) strongly preferred.
- 3â5 years of experience in public practice, preferably with owner-managed clients.
- Hands-on experience with audits, reviews, and compilations.
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian tax laws and compliance standards.
- Proficiency with Caseware, QuickBooks, and/or Sage (Simply Accounting).
- Familiarity with tax software (e.g., Cantax) is an asset.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed during peak periods.
