As a Senior Procurement Specialist within Con Edison Procurement Operations, you will enable corporate wide cost savings and serve as the primary line of support for internal Operations for gas, steam, and electric and transmission and generating facilities.The Senior Procurement Specialist will be responsible for complex procurements and key supplier negotiations for material, services, transportation, construction and maintenance of underground and overhead electric, gas and steam distribution and transmission substations and facilities, electric and steam generating facilities, and associated corporate and environmental services that ensures high availability and quality at the lowest possible total cost to the company. The Senior Procurement Specialist has responsibility for achieving corporate cost savings targets, strategic business objectives and supplier diversity and sustainability goals. If you think youd be a great fit for this role, wed like to hear from you.This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.ResponsibilitiesCore ResponsibilitiesEnable corporate wide cost savings and serve as the primary line of support for internal Operations for gas, steam, and electric and transmission and generating facilitiesResponsible for complex procurements and key supplier negotiations for material, services, transportation, construction and maintenance of underground and overhead electric, gas and steam distribution and transmission substations and facilities, electric and steam generating facilities, and associated corporate and environmental services that ensures high availability and quality at the lowest possible total cost to the companyAchieving corporate cost savings targets, strategic business objectives and supplier diversity and sustainability goalsWorks closely with business users, engineers, and EH&S to satisfy the pending requestsConduct complex procurements by utilizing the Procurement Operations sourcing processes and operating policies & procedures; including developing RFQs, Supplier Bid Evaluations, Negotiations, and Supplier Relationship ManagementSupport category management activities through providing supplier data, spend information, and any other relevant information to assist with the optimization and strategic sourcing of managed spend categoryDrive Total Cost of Ownership improvements to reduce costsLiaise with internal customers of respective purchasing categories to ensure minimal disruption to customer service due to Procurement processManage customer expectations effectively and communicate with customer groups regarding procurement policies as these relate to customer notice provision, requests, etc.Identify Procurement process and technology improvement initiatives and work with Projects & Analytics function to develop initiative proposals and documentation for reviewConduct need/requisition planning with internal customersManage service delivery by supporting transactional processes (e.g. invoice questions, etc.), auditing processes, training users, etc.Conduct procurements in accordance with existing contracts, and conduct spot buys as necessaryPerform other relevant operational procurement assignments as discussed with managementAdditional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesQualificationsRequired Education/ExperienceMaster's Degree in a related field, such as Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, etc., and minimum 2 years of full time procurement or work related experience orBachelor's Degree in a related field, such as Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, etc., and minimum 4 years of full time procurement or work related experience orRelevant Work ExperienceProficient in the use of MS Office Products, required.Contract Management, Contract Creation, Sourcing Strategy, Spend Analysis, Market Intelligence, Negotiation, Supplier Analysis, required.Contract/Procurement Law, required.RFx Development and Execution, required.Supplier Analysis, Screening, and Selection, required.Understanding of spend analytics, market intelligence, financial analysis and regulation, required.Understanding of Supplier Relationship Management, required.Knowledge of Oracle, preferred.Understanding of Con Edison operational knowledge, preferred.Licenses and CertificationsDriver's License RequiredPhysical DemandsAbility to push, pull, and lift up to 25 poundsSit or stand to answer a phone for the duration of the workdaySit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workdayAbility to read small print and symbolsAdditional Physical DemandsThe selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.Willing and able to travel within Company service territory and supplier locations, some of which may require overnight travel.Available to perform off-hour emergency buyer functions, some of which may require working extended or non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays.
