DESCRIPTION:
As a Sr Manager, Purchasing at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll manage strategic procurement initiatives that support our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. Leading a team of procurement professionals, you'll ensure consistent supply of essential materials while optimizing costs and maintaining the highest quality standards. You'll develop and execute multi-year strategies, build key supplier relationships, and implement continuous improvement across the procurement function.
Working closely with Operations, Quality, R&D and Business leaders, you'll balance product availability with strategic inventory management while meeting cost optimization goals. Your leadership will be essential in developing talent, implementing risk mitigation programs, and ensuring regulatory compliance. You'll serve as a key member of the site's Operations Leadership team, managing strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier relationship management to support our growing business needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's Degree plus 5-10 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain management, or related field
• Preferred Fields of Study: Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or related field
• APICS, CPSM or equivalent procurement certification a plus
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing procurement teams, with success in performance management
• Experience with global sourcing, supplier relationship management, and implementing category strategies
• Ability to optimize costs and improve processes while maintaining quality standards
• Advanced negotiation skills and experience developing commercial contracts
• Experience with ERP systems and electronic sourcing tools (e.g., ARIBA)
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and quality standards in manufacturing environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with data-driven decision making
• Excellence in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration
• Project management experience with continuous improvement methodologies
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and reporting tools
• Strong business acumen with understanding of P&L, cost accounting, and TCO analysis
• Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and influence without direct authority
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Travel required (approximately 10%)
• Experience in life sciences, medical device, or similar regulated industry preferred
