About the Team

The Legal, Risk & Compliance team is responsible for Synctera's legal strategy, regulatory posture, and compliance program across all lines of business. We own corporate governance, commercial agreements, M&A, privacy, and regulatory affairs on the legal side. On risk and compliance, we design and operate the Program Management compliance framework, providing second-line oversight of fintech partners on behalf of sponsor banks. We are also building Synctera's standalone BSA/AML program as we transition to a directly regulated MSB. The team works at the intersection of law, regulation, and product, translating complex regulatory requirements into scalable controls that protect consumers, satisfy bank partners and regulators, and enable Synctera to grow.

What We're Looking For

e're offering a 6-month contract engagement with the potential to convert to a full-time employee role based on performance, fit, and business needs.

We're searching for a senior, versatile compliance professional to join Synctera's Legal, Risk & Compliance team at a pivotal moment in our evolution. Synctera is simultaneously building a bank Program Management function (where we execute day-to-day compliance oversight of fintech partners on behalf of sponsor banks) and registering as a Money Services Business with FinCEN, which introduces standalone BSA/AML, SAR filing, and direct regulatory accountability obligations that we have not previously owned.

In this role, you'll help design, implement, and operationalize compliance programs across both the PM and MSB lines of business. You'll work closely with our General Counsel, Director of Compliance, and Sr. Director of Risk Management to strengthen governance, remediate gaps, build scalable controls, and prepare Synctera for direct regulatory examination.

We're looking for someone who has personally filed an MSB registration or managed a money transmitter licensing portfolio, and who has experience managing compliance in a BaaS or sponsor bank context, whether overseeing fintech partners on behalf of a bank or managing that relationship from the fintech side. Beyond the technical requirements, you understand the mechanics of third-party risk management from the inside and can translate regulatory expectations into operational procedures that actually work in a fast-moving, technology-driven environment.

If you don't check every box below but have hands-on experience with MSB licensing or BaaS program management and believe you have the right foundation, we'd still love to hear from you. Some of the best compliance professionals we've worked with brought unexpected backgrounds to the table.
