Summary: The Senior Analyst, Finance and Accounting will be an important team member within the North American Asset Management Department at RES. The Senior Analyst will work in a team responsible for all the Finance and Accounting works for client-owned renewable projects (wind, solar, and battery storage) located throughout North America
Requirements:
- Responsible for finance and accounting functions assisting with the operations and asset management of renewable projects (wind, solar, and battery storage).
- Performs day-to-day accounting, general entries, accruals, allocations, month-end closing procedures, period-end adjustments, reviews accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Processes and records fixed asset additions, disposals, adjustments, depreciation, and other vital items.
- Responsible for quarterly and annual financial reporting, variance analysis, budgeting, and project company (“SPV”) level forecasting.
- maintains tax equity models, prepares investor reporting, and supports monthly and quarterly cash flow reporting and analysis
- Responsible for cash flow forecasts, cash distributions, credit support, and project borrowings reconciliations.
- Coordinates the financial audits, liaising directly with asset-managed asset owners, tax advisors, and audit partners. Works with the Asset Management team to manage revenue settlement with ISO, analyze, improve, and control the processes that impact customer quality and influence internal operating efficiency.
- Provides quarterly updates and maintenance of the project financial models.
- Works with Tax Department to prepare federal and provincial tax returns and tax payments and assists in preparing tax exemptions for project owners.
- Works with asset managers and other departments to prepare various reports for clients.
- Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
- Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.

- Assists with process and system improvement.

- Leadership:

- Communicate regularly with team members, collaborations, and information on policies.
- Demonstrates expertise in eyes of client group.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting required.
- MBA, CPA, CFA or any other relevant financial designation preferred.
- 5 or more years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, accounting role required.
- 2 or more years of tax equity experience required.
- Renewables industry experience preferred.
- Big four background preferred. Ability to travel 5 to 15% domestically and internationally required.
- Comprehensive understanding of both accounting (IFRS, GAAP, audits, accruals, internal controls) and finance (budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis).
- Hands-on tax equity experience to support financial reporting, modeling, and compliance for a portfolio of renewable energy projects.
- Strategic thinker who can contribute to the development and delivery of Asset Management department goals.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others in a multi-departmental environment and build relationships with external stakeholders.
- High level of professionalism, results-oriented, organized, highly motivated, and detailed.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate with cross functional teams at all levels of staff and management.
- Proven track record of performing with a high degree of accuracy and meeting tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
- Proven ability to interact with and influence across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to interpret financial agreements into calculations. Equally adept at searching, cleansing, and compiling the necessary data from multiple systems and sources.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects often coinciding with quick turnaround requirements.
- Robust financial analysis and modeling skills to identify business drivers and summarize key business insights.
- Computer literacy, excellent abilities with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Functional competencies include business acumen, collaboration, continuous improvement, accountability, and communication.
