Sr. Accountant – Renewables
The Opportunity
•Sr. Accountant at a growth-oriented downstream energy company
•You will play a key role in the renewable joint venture’s accounting, profitability analysis, and financial and management reporting processes, giving you exposure to several different regions and their associated teams and members of Management.
•Join a growing renewable energy team within an established energy organization, gaining exposure to evolving markets and emerging accounting challenges.
•You will enjoy exposure to the Commercial, Treasury, Financial Reporting, and Accounting teams, as well as to our multi-state operations that stretch from Texas, Wyoming, Montana, Washington, and Hawaii.
•Learn and grow in SAP (our financial ERP system) and financial analysis processes.
Key Activities
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Sr. Accountant is responsible for the accounting, financial reporting, and margin and cost analysis of the Company's renewable energy joint venture. This role partners closely with accounting, commercial, and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with U.S. GAAP. As part of your specific responsibilities around the renewables assets, you will:
•Prepare quarterly statutory reporting financial statements under U.S. GAAP, including generating a statement of cash flows, and other required entity reporting
•Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results, including capital expenditures, operating expenses, gross margin, and EBITDA. This includes preparing and/or supporting other teams by recording journal entries, invoices, and reconciliations and financial analysis.
•Lead renewable inventory accounting activities, including inventory costing, yield calculations, FIFO roll forwards, and inventory reconciliations
•Work closely with other teams to understand and review the accounting of current period purchases, sales, and other settlements as it relates to title transfer, overall balance sheet presentation, income statement recognition, etc.
•Coordinate with other reporting teams and prepare eliminations required for consolidation
•Prepare and post journal entries during each month-end close and create summaries and reports for renewable inventory costing, intermediation obligation, renewable credits, leases, operating expenses, fixed assets, intercompany, joint venture/consolidating eliminations, etc.
•Participate in the response to inquiries from management, auditors, and regulatory agencies

Qualifications
To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To be a good fit for the Sr. Accountant opportunity, you will have:
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or similar required.
•CPA preferred
•Minimum six (6) years of accounting experience in private industry and/or public accounting required. Experience should include preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting, etc. Downstream industry experience preferred.
•SAP experience preferred (MM/FI/CO modules)
•Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, PowerPoint and intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel (e.g. XLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, pivot tables, data analysis tools, complex financial models, etc.) required
•Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), theories, and ability to apply them to the Corporation's accounting needs required
•Ability to research, solve problems, and take initiative to recommend process improvements
•Ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written form and to collaborate and build a positive rapport with all levels of staff and management across functional areas
•Organized, responsive, and detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with various stakeholders
•Fluent in English, both oral and written required
