Sr. Accountant

McLaughlin Research is hiring a Senior Accountant with 5-8 years relevant experience in New London CT.  This position performs a wide variety of accounting duties in connection with the month end financial closing and preparation of financial statements as well as tax filings and required reporting.
Responsibilities for this position will include:

•    Prepare monthly journal entries, ensuring all activity is recorded and adjustments/ corrections are made
•    Provide detailed analysis of various general ledger accounts and prepare appropriate reconciliations
•    Monitor account transaction activity to ensure accurate and appropriate recording of revenues, expenses, assets and liabilities
•    Maintain Chart of Accounts, Cost Pools and Financial Statement Configuration
•    Prepare Monthly and Year end closings
•    Prepare annual work papers and assist outside auditors
•    Maintain fixed assets and depreciation schedules
•    Prepare and file various returns including sales and use tax, state and local tax, W-2, ACA forms

Other responsibilities include:

•    Review accounts payable and sign checks
•    Prepare applications and allocations of various business insurances
•    Retirement Plan over-site and 5500 Filing
•    Work closely with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial information.

• Familiar with GAAP
• Proficient in MS Excel
• Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
• Extremely well organized and able to handle multiple tasks within specific deadlines
• Highly detail-oriented
