    Clerical/Technical Support Compensation Plan

    Pay Grade: 5
    Shift Type: Full-Time
    Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
    Reports To: Payroll Manager

    EMPLOYMENT BEGINS: As soon as possible 


    PRIMARY PURPOSE:

    • To assist the Payroll Manager with setting up and maintaining data to allow automated payroll system to accurately process checks according to IRS, State, Social Security, and TRS guidelines.                       

    QUALIFICATIONS: 
    Education/Certification:

    • High School Diploma /Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred

    SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

    • Knowledge of public school accounting.
    • Excellent oral and written communication, public relation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent knowledge and understanding of technology and its use to enhance the efficiency of the Business Services department.
    • Highly effective organizational and consensus building skills.
    • Knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures of MISD.
    • Knowledge and understanding of all IRS statutes, TRS statutes, and
    • State statutes.           

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Successful experience in the accounting and budgeting process.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    • Setting up and maintaining data in the Kronos Timekeeping System
    • Prepare monthly TRS report for employment of retired members
    • Set up pay and deduction information for all full and part-time employees
    • Setting up and maintaining leave day balances for attendance
    • Verifying all salaries for each employee at the beginning of each school year
    • Keep abreast of all government updates and changes regarding pay information and guidelines
    • Make payroll information available to auditors
    • Help with preparation of W-2's
    • Distribute checks each payday
    • Implement direct deposit and credit union personal business transactions for all full time employees
    • Process sensitive information with complete confidentiality
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • None

    Mental Demands:

    • Communicating well regarding proper treatment in financial matters.
    • Keeping abreast of new state and federal legislation concerning accounting requirements.

    Physical demands/environmental factors:

    • Reaching and carrying heavy ledgers/ accounting books.
    • Prolonged and irregular hours.
