Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED, college hours preferred.
Ability to work within deadlines and handle frequent interruptions
Proficient file maintenance skills
General understanding of payroll and accounting terminology and procedures
Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
Good analytical problem-solving skills
High level of proficiency in the use of the following: calculator, personal computer, Microsoft Excel
Detail oriented
Primary Purpose:
Primarily responsible for assisting in the processing of the district’s payrolls, including the collection of time and attendance data from the TCP (TimeClock Plus) system for all employees of the district.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the processing of payroll cycles, such as:
- Coordination of deadlines with campuses, other payroll specialists from departments and other organizations.
- Balancing of pay and deduction totals and correction of errors.
- Calculation and pay adjustments for long-term substitutes.
- Assist with TCP (TimeClock Plus) interface duties as assigned to include comparability of data between the Tyler and TCP (TimeClock Plus) system.
- Process pay adjustments for employees on extended sick leave.
- Calculate and verify the accuracy of employee pay and adjustments from Personnel Actions and other documentation.
- Input other types of payroll data such as deductions and direct deposits (ACH).
- Assist coworkers with other payroll duties such as TRS Reporting, check preparation, salary verification, and employee questions.
- Assist with annual W-2 wage reporting, and new school year start-up processing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Equipment used:
Personal computer, printer, scanner, copier, calculator, fax machine, and check sealer.
Working Conditions:
Position is considered essential to KATY ISD operations.
Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress. Repetitive hand motions. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Heavy volume of telephone calls.
