Ensure timely and accurate execution of accounting transactions and financial reporting in accordance with company standards.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans, manages and executes daily, weekly and month-end financial activities, including completion of account reconciliations and journal entries.
- Maintain daily bank reconciliations and monthly prepaid expenses.
- Assist with monthly sales rebates, promo allowance, and customer contracts.
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax and property tax returns including Canada GST returns. Ensure timely and accurate filing and compliance with sales and use tax requirements.
- Department analysis at month-end, explaining any applicable variances to budgets and/or forecasts.
- Assist Controller and Assistant Controller with ad hoc projects
- Assist Controller and Assistant Controller with monthly financial reporting package presented to leadership team
- Assist with annual financial statement audit
- Prepare quarterly Census reports
- Work with departmental Vice President to create the annual operating expense budget and updates to forecasts for assigned department(s).
- Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as documenting new and updates to existing processes.
- Responsible for the integrity, organization and accessibility of accounting data for the company records.
- Proactively seeks opportunities and feedback to develop leadership and job performance skills.
- Utilizes influencing and partnering skills throughout the company to achieve results.
- Assists in creating an efficient seamless operating environment for the Accounting department.
- Develops department cohesiveness and team spirit.
- Develops positive working relationships with internal and external customers at Fluidmaster. Promotes a positive image of the Finance Department.
- Ensures necessary internal controls are in place to protect company assets.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting (or equivalent) from an accredited university.
- 3-10 years accounting experience.
- CPA helpful, but not required
- Able to ask appropriate questions to problem-solve with minimal supervision in order to improve departmental processes and complete special projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, with strong personal computer skills.
- Understanding of GAAP and common company practices with regard to general accounting procedures.
- Supervisory experience helpful, but not required.
- Experience with large ERP and/or financial reporting tools (examples used/planned: JDE and Oracle Cloud EPM.
