The Opportunity

You'll join an established and respected CPA firm in Houston as a Senior Tax CPA / Tax Manager, taking ownership of complex tax compliance, planning, research, and advisory services for both individual and business clients. This role puts you on a clear path toward leadership and signing authority within the firm. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to clients across multiple industries while shaping the next generation of accounting professionals on the team.

Your Day-to-Day

• Prepare and review complex federal tax returns including 1040, 1120S, 1120, 1065, and 709 filings
• Conduct advanced tax research and deliver strategic tax planning recommendations to individual and business clients
• Advise clients on financial and tax matters, serving as their go-to resource for compliance and planning strategies
• Manage multiple client relationships while maintaining the highest standards of technical accuracy and service quality
• Mentor junior accounting staff and contribute to their professional growth
• Collaborate closely with firm leadership on client strategy and advisory engagements
• Progress toward full signing responsibilities for tax returns on behalf of the firm

What We're Looking For

• Active CPA license (required)
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 10+ years of recent public accounting tax experience
• Strong expertise preparing and reviewing complex individual and business tax returns
• Advanced tax research and problem-solving capabilities
• Thorough knowledge of federal and state tax compliance and planning strategies
• Experience working across multiple tax and accounting software platforms
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple client relationships and competing deadlines
• Strong ethics, professionalism, and meticulous attention to detail
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior accounting staff preferred
