Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S Corporations, C Corporations, trusts, and estates.
- Perform tax planning and research to identify opportunities that minimize client tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with current tax laws.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by providing responsive, professional service.
- Research complex tax issues and prepare technical memorandums and recommendations.
- Review financial statements and supporting documentation to ensure accurate tax reporting.
- Assist clients with tax notices, audits, and inquiries from federal and state taxing authorities.
- Collaborate with partners and managers on tax strategies and client engagements.
- Mentor and assist junior staff by reviewing work, providing technical guidance, and supporting professional development.
- Stay current on changing tax laws, regulations, and industry developments.
- Manage multiple client engagements and deadlines during busy season while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
- CPA license preferred or actively pursuing certification.
- 3-6+ years of public accounting tax experience.
- Strong knowledge of individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary taxation.
- Experience preparing and reviewing complex tax returns.
- Familiarity with tax research tools and tax preparation software.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Preferred Experience
- CPA license or CPA candidate.
- Experience with agricultural, real estate, manufacturing, or closely held business clients is a plus.
- Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior staff.
