About the OpportunityWe are seeking a highly analytical and hands-on Senior Revenue & Cost Accounting Analyst to join a growing accounting team for a critical short-term engagement. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who can quickly contribute in a fast-paced environment, analyze large volumes of financial data, and provide meaningful insight into revenue, cost of sales, and overall financial performance.This position requires a strong combination of technical accounting expertise, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to work with large datasets while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating independently, identifying issues, and partnering with leadership to drive accurate financial results.
Key Responsibilities• Perform detailed account reconciliations and month-end close activities.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and accounting adjustments in accordance with GAAP.
• Analyze revenue, cost of sales, and expense activity to ensure accuracy and reasonableness.
• Support revenue accounting and cost accounting functions through detailed analysis and reporting.
• Review and reconcile high-volume transactional data across multiple systems and sources.
• Utilize advanced Excel functions to analyze datasets exceeding 100,000+ records.
• Identify trends, discrepancies, and variances and provide recommendations for resolution.
• Assist with financial reporting, management reporting, and ad hoc analysis.
• Support ERP-based accounting processes, including reconciliations, reporting, and data validation.
• Partner closely with accounting leadership to improve visibility into revenue and cost drivers.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
Details:
Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA preferred but not required.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong experience with revenue accounting, cost accounting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and month-end close.
• Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, and large-scale data analysis.
• Experience working with datasets exceeding 100,000 records.
• ERP experience required; NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and make an immediate impact.
Preferred Experience• Revenue recognition and revenue accounting.
• Cost accounting and cost analysis.
• Logistics, transportation, distribution, manufacturing, supply chain, or other high-volume transactional environments.
• Financial reporting, management reporting, or business analytics exposure.
