Senior Property Accountant
Setting/Hours: Hybrid | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: Cincinnati, OH
trak group is partnering with a growing organization to fill a Senior Property Accountant role on a direct-hire basis. This is a hybrid position offering a competitive salary, bonus potential, ESOP participation, and 401(k) matching.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple properties in accordance with GAAP, tax basis, and company policies
- Maintain property-level general ledgers, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the asset management team on all financial matters
- Prepare and review balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements with variance analysis
- Collaborate with asset management on annual operating budgets and forecasts
- Present monthly financial highlights and variance analysis to leadership
- Monitor accounts receivable and payable for accuracy and timeliness
- Lead and support year-end GAAP audits for select legal entities
- Oversee CAM reconciliations, ensuring expenses are accurately allocated and reconciled against lease agreements
- Maintain timely bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Lead preparation and analysis for property tax appeals
- Calculate, review, and process management, development, and asset management fees
- Perform quarterly accounting and reporting for equity funds
- Identify and implement process improvements as opportunities arise
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3+ years of property or real estate accounting experience
- Experience with Yardi highly preferred
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Foundational understanding of US GAAP
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams and organizational levels
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- A self-starter mindset with a desire to grow and broaden your accounting expertise
