Senior Property Accountant - Residential
First Hartford Realty is seeking a Senior Property Accountant - Residential to provide timely and accurate accounting and financial reports for a portfolio of residential properties. This includes preparing Management and GAAP financial statements, monitoring bank activity, preparing bank and other account reconciliations, analyzing and explaining budget vs. actual results, and providing other reports as required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Monthly and Quarterly Close Process:
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts.
- Post monthly and quarterly journal entries and accruals.
- Prepare variance analysis from prior year and budget for management.
- Prepare standard journal entries including prepaid expenses, depreciation and amortization, loan activity, management fees, and interest accruals.
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial statement package, including P&L and budget for management, accounts receivable, payable reports, and other reports as required.
Other:
- Assist with Corporate quarterly and annual close in preparation for required audits.
- Assist with entering accounts payable when needed.
- Assist with accounting-related issues.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of accounting experience.
- Real estate accounting experience preferred.
- The company utilizes Yardi Voyager/Elevate as its enterprise level management software; must have working knowledge of Yardi software.
- Sage 300 and Office Connector experience preferred.
- Ability to multi-task and willingness to assist in ad hoc projects as they arise.
- Highly organized with great attention to detail.
- Strong Excel skills and Microsoft Office 365 expertise.
- Positive attitude and desire to work in a growing, high-volume environment.
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to cultivate relationships with diverse personalities.
