We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for senior procurement and vendor-management professionals with extensive experience in supplier evaluation, contract renewals, spend operations, cross-functional review, and structured procurement decision-making.
This role supports an advanced AI initiative focused on creating realistic simulations of real-world procurement workflows. Selected professionals will review vendor requests, benchmark pricing and contract terms, consolidate feedback from finance, legal, security, and IT teams, and develop high-quality evaluation rubrics reflecting how experienced procurement leaders assess new suppliers and renewals.
Key Responsibilities
Vendor Intake & Renewal Evaluation
- Review simulated new-vendor intake requests and contract-renewal cases
- Assess supplier suitability, pricing, commercial terms, risk factors, and operational fit
- Compare proposals against realistic internal reference data and procurement standards
- Identify missing information, unsupported assumptions, and potential approval risks
- Produce clear recommendations to approve, reject, or escalate requests
Cross-Functional Review Consolidation
- Analyse input from finance, legal, security, IT, and other stakeholder groups
- Resolve conflicting feedback and identify the most material issues affecting procurement decisions
- Consolidate multiple review perspectives into a coherent final recommendation
- Balance cost, contractual risk, technical requirements, security concerns, and business value
- Explain trade-offs clearly using practical procurement judgment
Rubric & Reference Response Development
- Author detailed, step-level rubrics for evaluating procurement tasks
- Develop accurate reference responses reflecting experienced procurement decision-making
- Define criteria for pricing, contract terms, risk, compliance, and approval quality
- Distinguish between minor omissions and material errors within evaluation frameworks
- Refine scoring standards to support consistent assessment across reviewers
Simulation Quality & Realism Review
- Audit simulated procurement environments for realism, completeness, and internal consistency
- Identify contradictions across company policies, reference data, stakeholder feedback, and task instructions
- Confirm that scenarios reflect mature vendor-review and spend-management processes
- Recommend improvements before tasks are released for broader evaluation
- Maintain a consistent standard of difficulty and practical relevance across assignments
Ideal Profile
Strong candidates may have:
- At least 8 years of professional experience in procurement, spend operations, strategic sourcing, or vendor management
- Hands-on experience managing new-vendor requests and contract renewals
- Experience working within a mature procurement function with formal vendor-review processes
- Strong understanding of supplier due diligence, commercial terms, contract risk, and stakeholder approvals
- Ability to assess vendor proposals from financial, legal, security, IT, and operational perspectives
- Excellent written communication and structured analytical skills
- Comfort producing detailed rubric-style feedback and approval recommendations
- Ability to work independently within a remote and asynchronous environment
Educational Background
- A degree in supply chain management, procurement, business administration, finance, operations, or a related discipline is helpful
- Professional qualifications in procurement, sourcing, contract management, or supply chain may be valuable
- Certifications such as CIPS, CPSM, CSCP, or comparable credentials may strengthen an application
- Equivalent senior-level experience in procurement or vendor-management operations may also be considered
Nice to Have
- Experience with modern spend-management, sourcing, or e-procurement platforms
- Background in technology procurement, SaaS purchasing, or enterprise vendor management
- Familiarity with third-party risk management and vendor due diligence
- Experience developing procurement playbooks, approval frameworks, or policy documentation
